What is Squffies?
Squffies is a pet site designed for breeding. You can never have enough adorable online pets, after all!
How do I pronounce 'Squffies'?
"Sss - kwuh - fees". Properly "qu" is only a "kw" sound when it precedes a vowel, but... really. Squuffies? xD
How do I sign up?
To sign up, go to the registration page. Registration is open to everyone.
Help! I can't log in! What now?
Until Squffies gets a site certificate, Internet Explorer tends to recognize it as an "unknown third party site" and block cookies- which prevents you from logging in. There are three ways to fix this:
1. Lower your privacy levels (Toos > Internet Options > Privacy and moving the slider bar). We do NOT recommend this, as it opens your computer to more malicious attacks, and it's not as reliable a fix as the other two options.
2. Set Squffies.com as an Allowed Site (Toos > Internet Options > Privacy > Site, then type the address and click Allow).
3. Use a different browser (Firefox, Safari, Netscape, Opera, etc)
How many accounts can I have?
One. This is a condition of the Terms of Service. Violation will get all your accounts frozen >.>
How do I change my account information or my password?
Go to your profile page and change any settings you like. You must enter your password to change your settings. There is a separate form to change your password at the bottom of the page.
How do I get my own squffy?
You can get a squffy in one of two ways. You can ask someone to breed you an egg, or you can try to win one in a giveaway. Once we have a business license, you can buy and design your own ($10 for one appearance trait, $15 for two and $20 for three).
How do I breed my squffies?
You can breed any female squffy to any male squffy. To breed two squffies, you need an available squffy of the right gender and a walnut. Simply find a squffy that is available for breeding, click the button, and soon you'll have some eggs of your very own.
How do I improve my squffies' status (hunger, exercise, etc)?
Squffies do not currently get hungry, restless or sick. In future, any nut or berry will decrease your squffy's hunger (by varying percents) and working in the farms, training or competing will decrease their restlessness.
How do I improve my squffies' chromosomes?
The first four squffy chromosomes (C1-C4) are related to the squffy's skill in the tournament games. They are not currently in use, but will be increased by training and competing. The second set of chromosomes, C5-C8, can be improved by feeding your squffy nuts. Different nuts affect different chromosomes. See what each nut does.
What do you mean, I don't need squffy dollars?
Squffy dollars are a purely optional feature of this site. Squffies runs on a barter system, and all you really need are items (especially nuts). Squffy dollars are an addition, not a necessity.
How do I get more squffy dollars?
You get squffy dollars by giving money to Squffies on the donation page. This will not be available until Squffies has obtained a business license. These are NOT necessary to play the game- we run on a barter system.
How do I get more items?
Lots of ways! You can win items by playing games, or you can grow them yourself on a farm, or you can buy them with squffy dollars. You can also trade a skill of some kind for items; making adoptables or layouts, for example.
How do I grow food on my farms?
Squffies tried to make their farms as realistic as possible. To grow food, you need to do the following.
-Buy a plot of land to grow your food on. They cost 1 cashew.
-Plow the plot of land. You need a shovel and at least two adult squffies to plow a field.
-Fertilize the plot of land. You need fertilizer and at least two adult squffies to fertilize a field.
-Plant the seeds. You must have a bag of seeds for this. How many bags of seeds fit on a field, and how many workers are required to plant and tend them, depends on what kind of seed you are planting.
-Tend the seeds. Some plants need to be watered more frequently, and some need to be weeded more frequently, and some need both. You need a watering can to water and a hoe to weed.
-Harvest the results. You must have at least two adult squffies to harvest a field.
If your plants run out of water, or if they get overrun by weeds, they will die. Dead and rotting plants in the vicinity can make your squffies sick, so you want to clear dead fields as fast as you can. Clearing a field, like plowing, takes two adult squffies and a shovel.
How long are squffy pregnancies and life stages?
Squffies are pregnant for 3 days, then lay eggs. Squffies stay in the egg for 5 days, then hatch and remain hatchlings for 5 days, then become a child for 5 days. At 15 they are an adult.
How old do squffies need to be to breed?
Squffies must be adults (15 days old) to breed.
